New Health Center Opens in Istanbul Sultanbeyli as Part of SHIFA Project
The opening ceremony of the Farabi Health Center, built in Istanbul Sultanbeyli, was held on February 11, 2026, as part of the SHIFA Project, which is being carried out in cooperation between the Ministry of Health and the European Union.
The opening ceremony was attended by Carlo Monticelli, President of the Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB); Maria Luisa Wyganowski, Head of Cooperation at the European Union Delegation to Turkey; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhammed Emin Demirkol, Director General of Public Health; Dr. Müh. İbrahim Söyler, Deputy Director General of Health Investments; Kemal Şahin, District Governor of Sultanbeyli; Sultanbeyli Mayor Ali Tombaş, European Union Delegation to Turkey Program Manager Elif Elçi, Director of Migration Health Muhammed Zahid Kaya, Istanbul Public Health Director M. Burhan Küçükoğlu, Sultanbeyli District Health Director Dr. Aydın Murat Öztürk, Sultanbeyli District Mufti Bilal ALBAYRAK, and ministry officials.
Funded by the EU, the Farabi Family Health Center and Farabi Enhanced Migrant Health Center, built on a 3,000 square meter area in Sultanbeyli, will serve the local community with its modern architecture, well-equipped infrastructure, and expert staff. The center aims to strengthen primary healthcare capacity, particularly in the field of migrant health, and support integration into the local healthcare system.
