Within the scope of the SIHHAT-II Project, the International Migrant Health Conference was held in Antalya on 2–3 April 2024.


Göç Sağlığı Konferansı 2024

 

The conference serves as a critical platform for sharing best practices at the intersection of migration and health and for discussing diverse perspectives. The two-day event aimed to explore innovative strategies, share research findings, and discuss policy implications.


On the first day of the conference, which shared the current situation, policies, and experiences related to migrant health in Türkiye and around the world through panels and presentations, opening remarks were delivered by Laurent Guirkinger, Counsellor of the Delegation of the European Union to Türkiye, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tolga Tolunay, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Türkiye. Following this, SIHHAT Project Director Azmi Ekmen shared important information regarding the FRIT fund, the SIHHAT-II Project, and SIHHAT-III activities. In addition, representatives of state institutions and international organizations came together to exchange information on migration management strategies and practices in Türkiye.

On the second day, experts in the field of migrant health came together through panels and presentations. The day began with a panel in which Migrant Health Centre staff discussed the SIHHAT Project model, followed by sessions addressing important topics such as the provision of healthcare services to migrants, mobile health and outreach services, and mental health and psychosocial support services.
