Migrant Health Centers Continue Their Intensive Activities Within the Scope of Preventive Health Services
Migrant Health Centers operating in various provinces of our country carried out a comprehensive work program in the areas of health literacy, child protection, public health, and mobile services throughout December.
In Mardin, teams from the Bab-ı Şifa Migrant Health Center provided mobile health services and conducted field visits in the Tozan neighborhood. This was followed by a health literacy training session for the local community. The Midyat Migrant Health Center also continued its awareness-raising efforts through home visits, school education, and information meetings.
In Artuklu, primary school students received training on “Peer Bullying.” As part of the empathy workshop organized on December 3, International Day of Persons with Disabilities, students were asked to write down their feelings and thoughts. At the same school, kindergarten students received training on “Privacy and Appropriate Touch.”
In Kayseri, students at Mustafa Tatar Elementary School received training on “Personal Hygiene.” The importance of hygiene in daily life was explained, and students' questions were answered. The evaluation emphasized that providing accurate information at an early age contributes to lasting behavioral change and that in such school activities, quality is more important than quantity, especially in reaching groups in need. The health literacy training organized for families in Kocasinan addressed the topic of “Behavioral and Adjustment Disorders in Children.” The training explained the causes of the problems, the importance of early diagnosis, and how families can provide support, and answered participants' questions.
In Batman, elementary school students were informed about “Privacy, Appropriate Touch, and Peer Bullying,” while the mobile health team also provided services in the field on the same day.
In Elazığ, the Psychosocial Support (PSD) team of the Migrant Health Center organized “Privacy and Peer Bullying” training for middle school students. At the end of the training sessions, students were given small gifts such as toothbrushes and pens to encourage their participation.
All these activities carried out by the Migrant Health Centers aim to contribute to the development of safe behavior in children, strengthen families' health literacy, and promote the spread of preventive health services in the community.
